Overview
The Sr. Credit Risk Analyst is responsible providing answers to credit policy and underwriting questions for the underwriting, processing and sales staff. The incumbent must have expert knowledge of lending policies, investor requirements and excellent critical thinking skills. The Mortgage Under IV – Scenario desk incumbent will also review loan files for consistency and provide input into credit policies. The position will carry Underwriter IV lending authority.
Partner with sales and processing to review scenarios and credit related questions, providing clear direction with excellent communication.
Current knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC, FHA, VA and CHFA guidelines, standards and practices
Advanced knowledge of Jumbo and Portfolio products, signing loans up to $1M
Render decisions on complex loan scenarios/escalations
Use critical thinking to offer alternatives and detailed loan analysis
Ability to handle a large volume of requests, while maintaining both turn times and stakeholder expectations.
Advanced mortgage loan appraisal review and complicated tax return analysis skills
Review complex transactions submitted for Loan Committee to provide a clear and detailed analysis for the other members of Loan Committee to enable a decision to be made in a timely manner
Develop and deliver training on policy.
Active participant in the implementation of tools including testing of underwriting and credit related income calculators
Serve as a backup to VA underwriters reviewing and issuing NOV’s when needed
Assist underwriting managers with targeted reviews of staff file

Required Education and Experience:
Minimum of five years mortgage loan underwriting experience required including past lending authority for portfolio loans of $1M or greater
Subject Matter Expert in Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, various investor, FHA, VA and portfolio loan products.
Subject Matter Expert in Self Employed Income Analysis including complex income tax analysis, asset and liability analysis.
Subject Matter Expert on all COVID related policies
Subject Matter Expert in Agency collateral requirements including non-conforming properties and non-warrantable condos
Working knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to mortgage and consumer lending practices
Basic MS Office skills
Must have FHA DE
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to make and convey difficult decisions.

Physical Requirements:
